It's been an interesting week...

This will be a short post since Taylor has started our movie (Transformers) and is insisting that I pay close attention.

OK... the movie is over and it's getting late, but here's an update (Dad... now you can't say I haven't updated my blog!)

It's been a busy week and obviously I haven't had much time to blog. I've got a lot on my mind that I'm not going to go into right now, but just like everybody else.... I've got my share of "stuff".

On Sunday.... I spent a good bit of the day preparing the kids' room for painting. I moved Chase and Sydney's beds into our room for the duration of the room remodel. I have to admit, I like having them in my room. I still wake up and wait to hear each of them breathing before I can fall back asleep. I often wonder when that will end and I can sleep all night. Probably about the same time as they get their driver's licenses and I find a new reason not to sleep.

Monday was back to work as usual. Just trying to get caught up. Although I've been assured that my job isn't on the chopping block and that even if it were, there's another person that I would bump for a job, there's still a certain amount of stress waiting for the cuts to come. We've already lost about 30 positions in our agency, although I hear they've all been offered at least some other job within the agency. I believe there's another 30 that they have to figure out where to cut. I have a bad habit of feeling stress, heartache and grief for other people, even if I don't know them. I hate the thought that someone would lose their job. I just know how devastating that would be for my family.

Tuesday was another typical work day, but just me and the little ones in the evening. Taylor was still at his Dad's and Jason was working. Sometimes it's a lot of work being here alone with those two, but it's still precious time that I get to spend with them. They stayed up a little late and watched American Idol with me and then went to bed without much fuss.

Wednesday I was up early. I had a 7am dentist ( I guess I should say "ortho") appointment. I finally got braces. If any of you actually knew me in person, you'd say I was crazy for getting them. My teeth seem really straight to everyone but me. Most people ask if I've had braces before, with I haven't. As silly as it sounds, I have one tooth that drives me nuts! It's been out of whack for as long as I can remember. I can see it in every picture of myself and I feel like it hangs out of my mouth like Nanny McPhee's. (You'll know what I mean if you've seen the movie). OK, so it's not quite that bad, but I'm double covered on my insurance right now and I qualified for the Express Invisaligns, so why not? It's only going to be $300 out of pocket! Highlight of the day... Taylor came home. : )

Thursday.... I don't like braces already. My teeth ache, but Jason assures me the pain will pass. He's had braces (the regular wire kind) for over a year now. My whole face is sore. Oh well, no pain, no gain, I guess. On another topic... today was beautiful. It was warm and sunny. Jason stopped by and had lunch with me at work, something we haven't done in a long time. It was nice to see him and spend time together without the kids, even if it was only for 45 minutes or so. When I got home from work, Taylor has mowed the grass and was weeding around the edges. Jason has promised to pay him $50 a month to keep it mowed and take the garbage out. Taylor was asking if this was a good deal and I asked how much he was paid before to do it and he said "nothing". Anyone that can add 2 + 2 could tell you that's a good deal.

Friday - I can hardly believe it's finally here! I was starting to think that time was standing still at work. Today was my short (8 hour) day, but it seemed like 10! Had a good night here with the kids. Jason is at work tonight. I'm guessing he's pretty busy. He's getting to play the role of lieutenant today. He's probably up writing reports as I write this. This is just another step towards preparing him to test for the lieutenant's position when one becomes available. I know he'll do great once he decides he wants it. At home tonight, me and the kids had a good dinner together, complete with sweet potato casserole for dessert. Sydney fell asleep on the couch at 8:00, so it was an easy process getting her in bed. Chase was up a little longer, but he, too fell asleep in the chair in the living room. I think the sunshine and playing outside at daycare has taken a lot out of them.

Saturday.... is only a half hour away now. I had previously planned to participate in the YMCA Spring Run in the morning, but the later I'm up typing this, the less likely that becomes. We'd have to be there by 7:45 and the 8k run/walk starts at 8:30. Syd has to be at dance by 10:15, so I think we'd be cutting it a little close anyway. I really just want to get out and participate in something and I thought this would be fun. Anyway, don't count on an update about the run/walk.... I'm planning to sleep in tomorrow! : )

Sunday... I really hope to make it to church. It's been awhile since we've been and I could use some one on one time with God. I've had lots more to pray about lately and he's always there to listen and comfort me... and I need both. If any of you have an empty spot on your prayer request list, please include me and my family. I've seen what the power of prayer can do.... Stellan is "LIVING" proof of God's power.

I guess I lied about this being a short post : )

  1. Sounds like you've got a lot on your plate... of course there's always room on your friends' prayer list :)

What agency do you work for? It's been stressful with all of the state cuts. Where does your hubby work? I work with commissioned personnel all the time - wouldn't it be crazy if we already knew eachother?!?!

Have a great day (I'm trying to bug Mr. Daddy into taking us to the Gift and Garden Show at St. Martins :)
