Girls Day Out

Happiness is spending some girl time with my favorite little girl!

I'll admit I was a little indecisive when I got up this morning about giving up my "me" time today, but then I don't get a lot of "me & Sydney" time either. So, I dropped Syd & Chase at daycare, hopped over to Starbucks for a quick coffee with Jason and then went back to pick her up.

The first thing us girls did was get a quick manicure. Sydney got to pick out her own color. It had to be the brightest blue on the shelf. I was surprised she didn't pick pink, which is her absolute favorite color. She also helped to pick a color for me. We settled on a purple that matched my sweater. I think it was called "Purple Hooter".
Even drying your nails is fun. If you look in the background you can see the little kid pedicure chairs. Kinda funny... like little kids get pedicures so often that they need 3 special chairs with bear heads on them. Geez... I only get about 1 or 2 a year.

Syd did a really good job letting the lady cut her nails and paint them multiple times (base coat, two layers of color and a top coat). And, as is usual for me, the girl looks up at me and my out of control eyebrows and says "Would you like your eyebrows waxed today, too?" which is code for "Wow... I haven't seen eyebrows quite that bad in some time!". I originally said "no", but decided, what the heck, rip 'em out. I must have had a dreadful look on my face because Sydney asked if the lady was hurting me. (H*LL YES is what was running through my mind, but I said not really.... didn't want to sound like the baby that I am).

Next, Sydney and I went to the movies. We saw Monsters vs. Aliens.... in 3D! I cannot tell you how far 3D has come since I was younger. It's really amazing. The sad thing is, Sydney is too young to appreciate it. There were 9 and 10 year olds in the theater that were clearly as impressed as I was. Lots of "Oooo's" and "Aaaa's". It was a few extra bucks, but well worth the experience.

Cool sign, huh?
These are not your Mama's 3D glasses either. They're not paper with red and blue lenses. They actually looked and felt like regular sunglasses.

Needless to say, lighting in the theater was not ideal for picture taking, but, you get the idea....

Lastly, we met my friend Rhonda at Starbucks for another coffee (yes, I'm still a coffee freak!) Here's a pic she took of me and Sydney with her phone.

Taylor stayed after school with some friends today and is going to see "The Haunting in Connecticut". I'm just hanging out here blogging until time to go pick him up. Sydney and Chase are taking advantage of the fact that I'm on the computer. They're each on their 3rd fudgecicle each. Luckily, they're sugar free and only about 40 calories each which they burn off in about 30 seconds! I wish I could say the same for me.

  1. Congats on your day out! Loved that last picture - you two look like you're giggling :)

Thanks for your comment from the boardwalk post. Yes - it's so nice down there! We take Itty Bit there for walks and to the Farmer's Market. He loves when they have Sand In The City and Harbor Days! (I think the vid is from Lakefair). So beautiful for a proposal!

Itty Bit is almost three (in a few weeks... insane!) How old is Chase?

    Have a great day!

  2. Chase won't be 3 until September, although he's already as big as a 3 year old. I'm a terrible age guesser because of that. He wears basically the same size clothes as Sydney and she'll turned 4 in December.
